What Is Asthma?


Asthma is a disease caused by increased responsiveness of the airways to various stimuli resulting in paroxysmal constriction of the airways manifested clinically as severe dyspnea accompanied by wheezing.

Recurrence of attacks

Recurrence and severity of attacks are greatly influenced by secondary factors, by mental or physical fatigue, by exposure to fumes, by endocrine changes at various periods of life, and by emotional situations.

Exposure of sensitive patients to inhaled allergens increases airway inflammation and symptoms which may develop immediately or 4 to 6 hours after their exposures.

Common aeroallergens

Common aeroallergens include: 

• House dust mites (often found in pillows, mattresses, furniture, carpets & drapes), cockroaches, cats and seasonal pollens.

Clinical Manifestations Of Asthma

• Episodic or chronic symptoms of airflow obstruction: breathlessness, cough, wheezing, and chest tightness

• Symptoms frequently worse at night or in the early morning.

• Prolonged expiration and diffuse wheezes on physical examination.

Mrs. AY, age 35 years, visited Hariom Homoeopathic Clinic, Haldwani with complaints of

• Difficulty in breathing; Worse from 3 am to 10 am
• Cough x 1 month
• Tendency to catch cold easily.
• H/O such complaints few years back.

Individualized Homoeopathic medicine was prescribed according to the rules of Classical Homoeopathy.

12 Nov 2009

• Patient feels much better.

• Dyspnea and Cough much reduced.

• Now she is able to sleep properly at night.

Medicine was continued for 1 week more after which the treatment was stopped as patient was relieved of her complaints.

Miss AT age 16 years visited Hariom Homoeopathic Clinic, Haldwani with the complaints of

• Difficulty in breathing + + since 3 years.

• Dyspnea; Worse- Early in the morning after 4 am,

• Eruptions on Forehead.

• Dysmenorrhoea and vomiting at the time of Menstruation.

• Frequent Aphthae in the mouth.
