- Breasts become enlarged and delicate veins become visible under the skin, due to engorgement of the blood vessels.
- Nipple and areola become more pigmented or dark.
5. Increased Frequency Of Micturition
This symptom usually starts around the 8th week of pregnancy and lasts till the 12th week. You may have urging to urinate at short intervals.
Why pregnancy increases frequency of urination?
- Pregnant uterus becomes bulky and exerts pressure on the fundus of the urinary bladder.
- Increased congestion of the mucus membrane of the urinary bladder due to pregnancy.
- Pregnant uterus bends forward and the cervix shifts backwards, due to this, base of the bladder becomes stretched.
- This symptom rarely lasts beyond the first trimester of pregnancy, since, after 12 weeks the uterus straightens up with the increasing size of the baby in the womb.
