WHY IS HOMOEOPATHY A BETTER OPTION

Those who have seen the wonderful results of homoeopathic treatment, may not need any answer to this question, but those who are still not aware of the efficacy of homoeopathy may find some useful information in this post. However, all doubts will cease only after experiencing the miraculous effect homoeopathic medicines have on a patients health. Here I will give an example of my own suffering.

When in school, I used to suffer from very painful aphthous ulcers in mouth, for which I had been taking various medications, including gels for local application, but with some partial relief, the ailment persisted and the symptoms became severe again, after some days. This continued till I got admission in the homoeopathic medical college.

As a medical student of first year, with little knowledge and no experience, I tried to prescribe medicine for my ailment. After a few initial errors I was able to select the correct medicine and as soon as it touched my tongue, the severity of the pain reduced and within 24 hours there was no trace of pain left. The aphthae disappeared in two days and have never reappeared again.

After having experience of this kind, no explanations are required regarding the efficacy of homoeopathy. There are numerous reasons to opt for homoeopathic treatment. Dr K.N. Mathur in the forward to the Organon of Medicine by Hahnemann has discussed the Merits of Homoeopathy as follows-

1. The foremost merit of homoeopathy is that while curing one disease it does not create another, as found mostly in allopathic treatment.

2. The second merit of homoeopathy is that the potentised drugs stimulate the power of resistance of the sick person to destroy the inimical action of natural diseases, thus producing cure in the most natural way.

3. The third merit of homoeopathy is that when the diagnosis is doubtful even then drugs can be selected on the basis of totality of characteristic symptoms and successful treatment is possible.

4. The fourth merit of homoeopathy is that in many surgical conditions like enlarged tonsils, fistula, cataract, piles, adenoids, hydrocele, nasal polyps etc homoeopathy makes surgery unnecessary.

5. The fifth merit of homoeopathy is that even  a new or unknown disease can be successfully and correctly treated, when the symptoms of the disease are known. This happened in a case of Asiatic Cholera. Hahnemann, without seeing a single case of cholera, mentioned the remedies that would be useful and his statements were subsequently verified.

6. The sixth merit of homoeopathy is that it cures diseases mildly, quickly and permanently, whereas other systems of medicine leave a long convalescent period even after the cure of acute diseases. For example, after typhoid fever is cured the patient remains weak and emaciated for a long time under allopathic treatment. This does not happen under homoeopathic treatment.

7. The seventh merit of homoeopathy is that the drugs are given in the form of sweet pills or powders. They are liked by children. Moreover the drugs can be administered easily either by mouth or through nose by olfaction.

Dr. Hahnemann, the founder of homoeopathy said-

This doctrine appeals solely to the verdict of experience. Repeat the experiments, it cries aloud, repeat them carefully and accurately, and you will find the doctrine confirmed at every step; and it does what no medical doctrine, no system of physic, no so called therapeutics ever did or could do - it insists upon being judged by results.

You don’t have to believe me when I say homoeopathy is great. Take homoeopathic treatment from a good homoeopath in your area (good homoeopath is the one who practices classical homoeopathy, which is the real homoeopathy), see the results and then decide whether or not what I wrote in this post is right.

HOW TO AVOID JOINT REPLACEMENT SURGERY IN OSTEOARTHRITIS

Though osteoarthritis is an inevitable consequence of the aging process, its progression can be checked to a great extent if you know how to manage the disease.

Management Of Osteoarthritis

Following the guidelines mentioned below may be helpful in checking the further degeneration of the joints:

#1. Correction of poor posture and a support for excessive lumbar lordosis can be helpful, since osteoarthritis may be aggravated by poor body mechanics.

#2. Excessive loading of the involved joint must be avoided.

#3. Running shoes may be helpful in cushioning load.

#4.  Prolonged standing, kneeling, and squatting should be avoided by patients with knee or hip osteoarthritis.

#5. Obese patients should be counseled to lose weight.

#6. Rest periods during the day may be of benefit, but complete immobilization of the painful joint should be avoided.

#7. For unilateral osteoarthritis of the hip or knee a cane, held in the contra lateral hand, is often useful.

#8. Bilateral disease may necessitate the use of crutches or a walker.

#9. Heat applied to the joints prior to exercise, reduces pain and stiffness. However, in some patients, ice works better than heat.

#10. Exercises designed to maintain range of motion and strengthen muscles surrounding the joint may be helpful. Isometric exercises ( tightening the muscles without moving the joints) are generally preferable to isotonic exercises ( muscle tightening with joint movement), since they minimize joint stress.

Facts about the homoeopathic treatment of osteoarthritis

  • Homoeopathy offers an excellent treatment for osteoarthritis and earlier the patient visits a good homoeopath (one who practices classical homoeopathy), better are the chances of recovery.
  • Even in advanced cases, homoeopathy can provide significant improvement in the quality of life of the patient.
  • In complete repertory 310 homoeopathic medicines are listed under the heading of joint pain.
  • Homoeopathic medicine has to be prescribed on the basis of individualization.
  • Different patients suffering from same disease may require different medicines for cure.
  • Constitutional medicine of the patient, carefully selected according to the rules of classical homoeopathy, relieves the patient of his or her joint pain and stiffness.
I have verified this fact in my practice. As an example, I will discuss here  a case of advanced osteoarthritis, which improved considerably with homoeopathy at my clinic.

Case Report

Mrs DJ, age 62 years, visited Hariom Homoeopathic Clinic, Haldwani with the complaints of:

  • Pain in both knees x 15 years
  • Pain aggravated while walking and rising from seat.
  • Marked swelling present.
  • Pain persisted even at rest.
  • Difficulty in walking

27 Feb 2009

Constitutional medicine of the patient was prescribed, after individualizing the case, as per the rules of classical homoeopathy.

16 Mar 2009

Pain better
Swelling reduced
Medicine continued.

3 Apr 2009

Now, there is no pain during rest; however, bending knee is painful.
Significant improvement in swelling.
Walking has become easier than before.
Medicine continued.
